Woodard & Curran’s multi-benefit approach is centered on the premise that in every water and environmental project, there are inherent opportunities to create meaningful change. We apply a lens of community benefit, often finding cost-effective, sustainable solutions that resolve our clients’ challenges and enhance placemaking and economic development potential.
When an infrastructure project disrupts a community, that’s an opportunity to put things back in a better state than where we started. When an area is already being reshaped, such as when roads and sidewalks are excavated for pipe replacements, or land is altered to implement flood control measures, we can elevate that infrastructure investment to do more, such as improve walkability of a town, create habitat to support biodiversity, or enhance public recreation spaces.
Examples of projects that are well suited for our multi-benefit approach include the redesign of a public utility or greenspace, or beneficial reuse of a remediation site. These are already complex endeavors, however, instead of simplifying them, we partner with our clients to look at the big picture and identify opportunities to create greater value and benefit communities and the environment, often doing so in ways that enhance our ability to secure state and federal funding.
